I VOTED GOOD, BECAUSE IT IS USEFUL AND BETTER THE WHAT WE HAD WHICH WAS NOTHING. BUT THERE IS A LOT OF POTENTIAL HERE. I HAVE PLENTY OF GOOD IDEAS TO IMPROVE THE SITE AND WOULD BE HAPPY TO SHARE THEM AND HELP IMPLIMENT THEM IF NEEDED.

ONE IMPROVEMENT WOULD BE THAT ANY MEMBER CAN SEE ANY MEMBER'S PLAYING STATS. THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY SECRET IN SOMEONES WIN/LOSS PERCENTAGE. I WOULDN'T OBJECT ANYONE LOOKING AT MY WIN/LOSS PERCENTAGE, NUMBER OF MATCHES PLAYED,WON, THE LAST 30, ETC. I CAN'T IMAGINE ANYONE WHO WASN'T HIDING SOMETHING OR TRYING TO CHEAT WOULD MIND. ALSO, HOW ABOUT A SEPERATE CATEGORY FOR PLAYOFF/COUNTY/VEGAS MATCHES. HOW ABOUT ON PEOPLE'S PROFILES THE NUMBER OF TIMES THEY REPRESENTED OUR COUNTY IN VEGAS (SINGLES,DOUBLES,TRIPLES & TEAMS). HOW ABOUT CAREER STATS AGAINST OTHER SKILL LEVELS. I AM SURE I HAVE MORE, HAVE TO WRITE THEM DOWN AS I THINK OF THEM.

Some of what you're asking for is not possible. Data is not stored as you may think it is and in some cases we aren't uploading it to protect proprietary information.

As for publicly visible stats on all members: we will not be doing that.

There are very good reasons for this policy and it is set in stone. The first being what you see is basically wins and losses. This is a relatively small percentage of what actually goes into a handicap and the rest is actually not on the website. We don't upload it. If that information were public it would inevitably be use to complain about some-one's handicap... even though I've already mentioned it's only a portion of the whole picture.

Secondly, if it's not used to complain it will be used to manipulate the system... players having a strong session will be dumped to (make them go up and help you go down)... again a misconception about the overall picture and winning percentage. The data will also be used to single out weak or struggling players to pick on them as 'easy wins.' This will discourage those who may be new and learning the game and lead to member attrition.

Thirdly, the equalizer was never designed for you to go in with that information. Further everyone does not have Internet access or an account on the site. The league office would receive complaints that one team has an advantage over another because they can get to this information. The office is likely to be pressured to provide it in the team envelope for everyone... and again the system isn't designed to work like that.

Lastly, there will be accusations of dumping... a struggling player will break out of it and the opposing team will see he was 0 of 6 before this and submit complaints that he was losing on purpose when in fact they just lost those other matches. Because you only see wins/losses you would have no way of knowing if they were competitive or not in those matches; and as I said we won't upload match data at all (honestly it's not stored in a way that would be useful to you anyway).

I appreciate the suggestions though. If you've got others please let me know. I'm actually going to be talking to Vicki soon and we plan to get a lot more features going!

I DON'T AGREE WITH WHY WE CAN'T SEE OTHER PEOPLE'S WINS AND LOSSES, BUT I SEE NO POINT IN ARGUING BECAUSE THE APA HAS NEVER BEEN REAL RECEPTIVE TO ANY OTHER OPINION THEN THERE OWN (HENCE SET IN STONE). JUST SUFFICE TO SAY THERE WILL ALWAYS BE COMPLAINING AND CONSTANT COMPLAINERS, CHEATERS WILL ALWAYS CHEAT, PEOPLE WHO DUMP WILL ALWAYS DUMP TO STRONG PLAYERS(YOU ALLOW PEOPLE TO SEE WHO IS LEADING IN THE "PEFORMANCE" RACE ~ EVIDENCE OF A STRONG SESSION, CONTRADICTORY TO YOUR EXPLINATION). AS FAR AS PICKING ON WEAK PLAYERS, ALL GOOD CAPTAINS AND TEAM PLAYERS ARE AWARE OF THIER OPPONENTS, WE ALREADY KNOW WHO THE STRONG & WEAK PLAYERS ARE. BUT LIKE I SAID, YOU GUYS RAE GOING TO DO WHAT YOU WISH NO MATTER. NO SURE WHAT RESTRICTIONS THE SOFTWARE ALLOWS, PERHAPS YOU COULD ALLOW ONLY TEAMMATES IN THE SAME SESSION VIEW EACH OTHER'S STATS. BESIDES FRIENDLY TEAMMATE COMPETITION, IT WOULD ALLOW A CAPTAIN OR CO-CAPTAIN THA ABILITY TO SEE WHAT AND WHERE HIS PLAYERS NEED HELP. IF I HAD A 4 WHO PLAYED WELL AGAINST 4 & 5'S BUT ALWAYS LOST TO 2'S & 3'S OR IN REVERSE, IT WOULD HELP BETTER PLAYERS TEACH NEW SKILLS AND ALLOW BETTER TEAM MATCHUPS ON ONLY YOUR OWN TEAMMATES. MOST GOOD TEAMMATES WOULD KNOW THIS ANYWAY, BUT HAVING IT IN ACTUAL FACTS IS ALWAYS BETTER THEN GUESSWORK.

ONE DEFINATE IMPROVEMENT I AM SURE YOU CAN'T OBJECT TO IS EVERYONE WHO IS A MEMBER BEING ABLE TO SEE ALL DIVISION SCHEDULES AND TEAM ROSTERS. THIS WOULD HELP PLAYER AND TEAMS DECIDE IF THEY WANTED TO PLAY ABOTHER NIGHT AND WHEN, HELP INDIVIDUALS FIND TEAMS WITH OPEN SPOTS AND WHETHER THEY FIT WITH THE OTHER SKILL LEVEL ON THE TEAM. IT ALSO WOULD ALLOW PEOPLE TO SEE WHEN AND WHERE THERE FRIENDS WERE PLAYING ON A CERTAIN NIGHT SO THAY COULD GO HANG OUT OR GIVE SUPPORT.

I appreciate your opinion but members will not get other members stats, teammates or opponent. I am not an employee of the APA, but rather a 3rd party who develops sites for individual league operators. I've also been a league member for 17 years and have to say I agree with the APA's position on this. The league is indeed open to your opinion (as you are free to state it here), they just disagree with it. There is no doubt it could be helpful and used for good as there is also no doubt it could and would be abused, hence the set in stone.

Any public stats information (standings/rosters/host locations) is up to Vicki. As with the public personal statistics, there are reasons, although different ones, for not publishing this information as well. She is the final word on that.

If that's the case then why do you want access to other players data?

Ps. I think your Caps Lock key is broken.

1. I TYPE IN CAPS ALL THE TIME. ALL MY PASSWORDS, AND MY MAIN OPERATING SOFTWARE AT WORK REQUIRES CAPS.

2. LIKE MOST LEAGUE PLAYERS IN ANY SPORT I AM A COMPETITIVE PERSON. BEING ABLE TO MEASURE YOURSELF AGAINST YOUR FRIENDS AND OTHER PLAYERS AT YOUR SKILL LEVEL IS FUN AND ADDS SPICE TO THE COMPETITION. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION THAT IS THE MAIN REASON FOR WANTING TO SEE OTHER PEOPLE'S STATS.

3. YOU SHOULDN'T ASSUME ALL SUGGESTIONS HAVE NEFARIOUS REASONS. YOU SAID ALL SUGGESTIONS WERE WELCOME. I SIMPLY TOOK YOU AT YOUR WORD. ONE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE ANY LEAGUE IS THEIR ARE ALWAYS COMPLAINERS, WHINERS AND CHEATS. IT JUST MAKES IT LESS ENJOYABLE FOR THOSE OF US WHO OBSERVE THE RULES AND JUST TRY TO PLAY THEIR BEST.

4. IF "VICKI HAS THE LAST SAY" DOES THAT MEAN I SHOULD ASK VICKI OR WILL YOU PASS THE SUGGESTION ON SINCE IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A NEFARIOUS SUGGESTION ???

First, I love the word nefarious! Best use was of it was the guy in Raiders of the Lost Ark at the bar in Nepal!

Second, no one is suggesting your motives are indeed nefarious. Not knowing you, such an assumption would be rude. The question is simply asked because your statements seemed contradictory and a clarification was desired. Nothing more. Being an APA member for almost 20 years I can understand the desire for stats... it's why I wrote the site, but it's best not to assume someone's motives.

Third, I appreciate the need for all caps at your employment but in a public forum it is considered shouting and makes text harder to read and follow. It can lead to a misunderstanding of your intended tone (IE. you're angry and confrontational when that may not be the case). The use of smileys and lower case is preferred to convey mode and uppercase reserved for shouting as if to get a point across.

Lastly, yes ask Vicki about public standings. I will also pass it along when I speak to her. You are correct in your assumption that extended member statistics, either for a teammate or opponent is out of the question.

The site is very accommodating, however I would also like to see the statistics of other players. Other competitive sports have access to it so why not us? The way I look at it is that those who study the statistics can better strategize. To me, it would make the game more cerebral. At minimum, it would be nice to see the stats of our fellow teammates (or did I miss the area where this is possible)?

As I said, personal stats are just that, personal; and there are no plans to make them available for the reasons stated already. Teammates are of course free to print out and show you their stats but it is their choice to share it with you or not.

This is the first time I've seen a thread posted on our site... and I am VERY impressed. The topic is interesting, and my reply is that which was posted at the end. If you have friends who are in the league that want to share their personal statistics with you, that is fine. But, the League will not provide that information to "interested" parties. That's just the way it will remain.

DIDN'T I ALREADY SUGGEST SEEING SCHEDULES FOR ALL DIVISIONS LIKE 500 POSTS AGO
IF WE ACTUALLY GET THAT DONE, IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE TEAM STANDINGS FOR ALL DIVISIONS ALSO.
